Valley Introduces Pivot Cruise Control
Valley Irrigation recently introduced Pivot Cruise Control software, which allows producers to be even more precise with chemigation and fertigation.
With the patent pending Cruise Control, producers can program a center-pivot irrigation machine equipped with a Pro2 control panel to automatically adjust its speed, based on completing a defined number of degrees in a specific amount of time.
If a producer has enough product to cover 125 acres under a pivot, then he expects 125 acres to be covered exactly. If a pivot travels too fast during chemigation, not enough chemical is applied where it is expected and there may be an overlap of application. If the pivot travels too slowly, then the product may run out, and the producer is left with a wedge of ground untreated.
Cruise Control will be standard on all Pro2 panels this spring. Existing Pro2 control panels can be upgraded with Cruise Control software.

BASF Offers Savings Opportunities
Growers who use Headline fungicide may qualify to save $50 per gallon on purchases through BASF authorized retailers made by Aug. 15.
“Headline fungicide is a smart, strategic investment for growers, and the Headline Advantage offer means it pays even more to plan ahead,” says Jason Ward, Fungicide Market Manager for BASF.
BASF has also teamed up again with Farm Plan to provide growers another way to save on their purchases for the 2011 season. Under the 2011 program, growers can finance a purchase of two or more BASF crop protection products, such as Headline fungicide and Kixor herbicide technology, through Farm Plan with zero percent interest and no payments for 180 days.
To take advantage of this offer, growers must make a purchase using their Farm Plan account by July 15, 2011.
